Call the Midwife

"IT WAS CHRISTMAS AS UNIQUE AS ANY OTHER. FOR EVERY YEAR THE MYSTERY UNFOLDS ITSELF A NEW. IN LATER LIFE I CAME TO SEE THAT FAITH, LIKE HOPE IS THE ROPE AND ANCHOR IN A SHIFTING WORLD. FAITH CANNOT BE QUESTIONED UN-LIVED. AND IF I COULD NOT GRASP THEN, I FELT ITS HEART BEAT, WHICH WAS LOVE"

Made In A Rush

Christmas Eve Eve was spent making these cards.....potato stamps!! this is what happens when an art student leaves all her art stuf at uni and has to desperately search the house for remotely crafty bits and bobs

note to self, stop doing things that involve paint on white bed sheets! douche.

Wintery Sun

So we finally "decorated" the living room with various poster/photo combo's......slightly rushed before having friends over, but......NAILED IT.... i think
the following day was ridiculously productive considering how much i had drunk the night before!
Managed to create a great playlist with my housemate on spotify, basically just a medley of 90's boy-bands and brittany

Finally got the Real Techniques core collection brushes, and loving them! The detailer brush is ideal for lipsticks and the Buffing Brush is great for a speeding foundation application.

Currently strangely loving Rita Ora's "Shine Ya Light", i say its odd, as never thought i would be into her, but that song just does it!

Something New

(year old photo- but hey)

So this is new, but saw this on charlottes web's blog today and thought, why not!
so, here it goes:

If I were a gemstone, i'd be Jade
If I were a scent, i'd be Roses
If I were a pair of shoes, I'd be (unpractical) cream converse's
If I were the weather, I'd be a crisp sunny morning
If I were a facial expression, I'd be confusion

If I were a car, I'd be a cheap 70's sports car
If I were a time of day, I'd be 9am
If I were a month, I'd be September
If I were a place, I'd be a cozy living room
If I were a liquid, I'd be a bubble bath
If I were a taste, I'd be mint

If I were a sea animal, I'd be a turtle
If I were a food, I'd be gluten free/dairy free banana bread
If I were a colour, I'd be grass green
If I were a musical instrument, I'd be a Keyboard
If I were a flower, I'd be a white rose
If I were a song, I'd be "Postcards from Italy" Beirut

If I were a planet, I'd be Earth
If I were an object, I'd be a hot water bottle
If I were a fruit, I'd be a strawberry
If I were a sound, I'd be a crackling fire
If I were a day of the week, I'd be Tuesday

All Snuggled Up

Well the weather this month has been so strange! Its now tipping it down and so so very dull, but after a day of relatives i welcome my baggy joggers and NY jumper, cup of tea and hot water bottle....in AUGUST!

"Peace is respect for others being different"

I have been drinking this glorious tea for over a month now oblivious to these little "words of wisdom" on tag on the tea bag! I have been obsessed with Chai Tea for ages then realised the black tea would involve caffeine so found this "Yogi Classic" tea and it is basically Chai tea without the black tea and it is.......well words cannot describe. unfortunately there is only 15 bags per pack so i do find myself repurchasing this beaut a hell of a lot! All the ingredients are so soothing and the smell is great too!

love for interiors

I have always had a passion for creating defined living spaces. Whether that be through decorating, arranging or just simply organising.

Fortunately i managed tp photograph several of my arrangement accomplishments.

I feel the importance is in the detail, order and symmetry. I have manifested this in arranging frames travelling up a slant, to pinning photographs on a clothing line to symmetrically make sense due to location and size.

I would like to share this with you with a series of photographs and future posts.

I wish to also share some of my DIY creations.

enjoy.

coloured thread squares

Here are more of my screen prints using my thread squares that i directly exposed onto my screen (A1).
The screen was an experiment, i wasn't too sure how it would turn out due to it not being an image but being the direct object. Separating the colours out was a very lengthly process, and was more susceptible to mistakes.

i screen printed onto weak/transparent papers to emphasise the fragility and delicate nature of thread. In comparison to the strict nature of the square and the harsh nature of screen printing. My hope was to create folds or creases under the pressure of the screen printing yet the material was strong enough to withstand this pressure. Similar to inner strength and will power seeing you through difficult times.

film photographs of installation

This work explores space, time, colour and geometry. The projection concentrates on a 20x20cm "thread square" photographed from a previous installation with a light from an OHP highlighting the square but also adding more geometry to the piece. The power of colour is almost too powerful to combine with the ideas surrounding the use of thread, light and time.
